Do you have joy in faith? If someone were to ask you, “From where do you derive your confidence before God?” what would you say? Would you mention your personal achievements or credentials? Perhaps you would bring up your family or faith history? Maybe you would mention your sincerity or passion for what you believe?
In Philippians 3:1-11, the apostle Paul shares that there is only one confidence worth anything and it is found in the ONE who’s worth everything. Likewise, when Jesus is our singular confidence before God we too can experience joy in faith.
7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—Philippians 3:7-9
